Frequently asked questions

Who are these expat guides written for?

Our guides are written for people planning an international relocation — individuals, couples, families and employees being transferred by an employer. Each guide focuses on the practical questions an expat asks before, during and after a move: visa pathways, where to live, school options, banking and tax basics, and how to ship household goods cost-effectively.

How do you decide which country guides to publish?

We prioritise the destinations our community asks about most often: the UAE, Canada, USA, UK, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Mexico, India, Israel, Saudi Arabia and other popular expat hubs. We also publish topic guides — shipping options, destination charges, packing, customs — that work across any route. New guides are added regularly and listed in the categories above.

Are the guides updated when rules change?

Yes. Immigration policies, tax thresholds and import rules change frequently, so we review each guide on a rolling basis and add updates when a relevant change is publicly announced. Where rules are time-sensitive (visa quotas, tax-residency thresholds) we recommend confirming the current position with a licensed professional in the destination country before you commit.

Do these guides replace professional advice?

No — the guides are a starting point that helps you ask the right questions, understand the typical process and shortlist services. For binding decisions on visas, taxes, real-estate contracts and customs declarations you should still work with a licensed advisor in the destination country. Our directory and contact form can help you find one.

How do the country guides connect to the shipping tools?

Every country guide cross-links to the relevant shipping content — FCL/LCL options, destination charges, volume calculator and the shipping-quote form — so you can move from research to a concrete estimate in a few clicks. If your destination guide is not yet published you can still request a quote and an advisor will share the relevant country-specific notes manually.
