How The Expats Hub uses cookies and similar technologies — including analytics — and how you can control them.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language and other display settings) and allow site owners to understand how their site is used. We also use similar technologies such as local storage and web beacons; in this notice we refer to all of these as "cookies".

2. Categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary. Required to operate the Site — authentication via Clerk, session handling, security, load balancing and remembering choices like dismissing this cookie notice. The Site cannot function properly without these.

Functional. May be used to remember UI preferences and state that improve your experience but are not essential to operate the Site.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors discover and use the Site (pages viewed, links clicked, referring source, approximate location, device type). This helps us improve content and detect issues. Google Analytics may set its own cookies; see Google's documentation for details.

Third-party services. Embedded content (for example country flag images, fonts, video players or maps) may set cookies under the control of the third party.

3. Your choices

You can control cookies in several ways:

Browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the Site (login, forms).
Google Analytics opt-out. You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics.
Cookie notice on this Site. The dismissible notice you see on first visit is stored locally so we don't show it again on the same browser. Clearing your browser storage will bring it back.

4. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is currently no industry standard for how sites should respond to this signal, and the Site does not change its behaviour based on it. You can still opt out of analytics through the methods above.

5. Changes to this notice

We may update this Cookie Notice as we add or remove tools. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
